Three decades ago, Rabbi Yosef Adler introduced a visionary approach to Jewish education at TABC. His goal was to nurture each student into a 'Ben Torah’ — an individual with a deep love for Torah study and values that permeate every facet of life. The outcome: a generation of young men with a profound connection to Hashem, Torah, Am Yisrael, and Eretz Yisrael, a passion for knowledge, and a desire to positively impact their communities, Jewish and beyond.
The cornerstone of this vision lies in an educational approach which first and foremost acknowledges the transformative power of Rebbe-talmid and teacher-student relationships. Compassionately meeting students where they are fosters a deep sense of understanding, paving the way for meaningful learning and growth. Additionally, Rabbi Adler’s commitment to upholding the principles of Torah u’Maddah, recognizing the primacy of Torah as well as the significant value that science, the arts, and culture offer to the development of the whole child, informs TABC’s mission to this day.
The extent to which this has become the norm across Yeshiva high schools stands as a testament to the enduring influence of Rabbi Adler’s leadership during his tenure as TABC's Rosh Yeshiva. Notably, his impact can also be seen in his progressive embrace and warm welcome of SINAI students, inviting them to learn and live alongside their TABC peers, and ultimately setting what has become a standard of inclusivity throughout the Yeshiva high school system.
It is our honor and pleasure to name the new TABC expansion the Rabbi Yosef Adler Building.
